Google Releases I/O 2017 Developer Highlights Video

Google I/O 2017 has now come and gone. However, if you are feeling a little nostalgic or simply would like a brief overview of what happened during the event, then the Google Developers team has now released a new video which you can check out below. The video is titled ‘Google I/O 2017 Highlights’ and offers just that – highlights of this year’s event.

However, this is not quite your typical ‘highlights’ video. At least not from the consumer point of view as the video is much more focused on, and much more aimed at, developers. Which probably should not come as too much of a surprise. After all, not only was the video posted to YouTube from the Google Developers YouTube channel (and not the main Google channel), but of course, Google I/O is actually a developer-focused conference to begin with. So if you are hoping the video below will showcase the latest developments in Google’s Daydream VR ambitions, more in-depth information on the Google Assistant, Google Home, or more Android O nuggets of information, then that is not the case. As the video does not provide any real insight or overview of any of the major announcements that came through during the event.

Instead the video focuses on the Google I/O experience from the perspective of the attending developers. In fact, it would not be too far wrong to assume that this is more of a promotional video for developers, showcasing all the fun that the 7,200+ developers had at this year’s event, while also celebrating the world of coding in general. Which, regardless of whether you are a developer or not, makes it a video worth checking out. The video is only a short one (just over a minute long) and surprisingly crams in much of the experience had by the developers. Especially considering the video not only focuses on the main three days that the event took place over, but also encompasses the entire Google I/O experience had by the developers – starting from when those select developers first received their ticket and confirmation that they were going to the event.
