In Short: The OnePlus 6T is expected to arrive later this month, and while we’re waiting for that to happen, the phone’s release date had surfaced. The OnePlus 6T listing surfaced on Amazon India, along with a market launch date. According to that listing, the OnePlus 6T will become available on October 30, which is the date when pre-orders for the phone will end. Now, this info is related to India, but it’s quite probably applicable to other markets as well, at least as far as the release date for the device is concerned. This listing also confirms that a free pair of Type-C earphones will be available in India for those of you who pre-order it via Amazon India, we’re still not sure whether this offer will be available on a global scale as well, or not.
Background: The OnePlus 6T will become official On October 17, at least if rumors are to be believed. The device will certainly launch in October, though, and the company actually teased a new announcement for later today. Now, the company will probably reveal the phone’s release date via that announcement, which will come via OnePlus’ global social network accounts. In any case, the OnePlus 6T will sport a similar design to its predecessor, the OnePlus 6, but it will ship with a noticeably smaller notch, and without a fingerprint scanner on the back. The OnePlus 6T is expected to include an in-display fingerprint scanner. The device will be fueled by the same SoC as the OnePlus 6, the Snapdragon 845, while it will probably become available in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants. Android 9 Pie is expected to come pre-installed on the phone, while the device will probably sport a larger battery than its predecessor.
Impact: The OnePlus 6T will not be a huge boost over the OnePlus 6, as most of their internals will be the same, but it will bring an in-display fingerprint scanner to the table, while the phone will also look better thanks to a considerably smaller notch on the front. Most OnePlus 6 users probably won’t upgrade, though, as the processor and most of its internals will remain the same, but if you do own previous OnePlus devices, but we’ll see what will happen.
