OUKITEL has just revealed a brand new rugged smartphone, the OUKITEL WP1. The company has revealed the phone’s design, some of its specs, and the very first promo video for this smartphone has also been shared by the company. The OUKITEL WP1 is a ‘tri-proof’ smartphone, as OUKITEL likes to refer to it, as it’s water and dust resistant (IP68 certification), while it is also shockproof.
As you can see in the provided images, the OUKITEL WP1 does look like a rugged smartphone, it looks like it can take a hit, while it sports two cameras on the back, and a fingerprint scanner below them. Interestingly enough, you will find glass on the back of this smartphone. The device has bezels all around, though those bezels are not as thick as they are on some other rugged phones. You will also notice that the OUKITEL WP1 is not extremely thin, but we’ll have to wait to get any specific info regarding that. The phone features a 5,000mAh battery, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. The phone features a 5.5-inch HD+ (1440 x 720) display, while it is fueled by the MediaTek’s Helio P23 64-bit octa-core processor. The device also comes with 9V/2A fast charging, while it supports wireless charging as well.
If you take a look at the video that is embedded down below, you’ll basically see the company perform several durability tests on the phone. The first test OUKITEL opted for includes a rubber hammer, and pounding on the device’s display. The second display includes a real hammer, and the same test, hitting the phone’s display. For the third test, OUKITEL opted to bury the OUKITEL WP1 in sand, and pour some water on it, which did not do any harm to the phone either, same goes for rinsing of the device with water afterwards.
